It wasn’t my first time in Waynad.
The road from Mananthavady to Kalpetta had always felt…familiar. Straight.
That evening I was a bit tired. The Google Maps were off. Just instict.
The road sign said left.
I took right.
No reason. No plan. Just… a mistake.
A few minutes in, I realised it.
This wasn’t the route I was supposed to be on.
For a second, I thought of turning back.
Correcting it. Getting back “on track”.
But I didn’t.
I kept riding.
The road got narrower.
Quieter.
Greener.
No traffic. No noise. It lead me to some beautiful spots, mostly residential areas.
Just the sound of the engine… and something inside me settling down.
And then it hit me.
If I hadn’t taken that wrong turn…
I would have missed all of this.
Maybe not every wrong turn needs correction.
Maybe some are meant to be experienced.
We spend so much of life trying to stay “on the right path”…
afraid of mistakes, detours, delays.
But what if…
some of the best parts of life
are waiting on the roads we never planned to take?
That day, I didn’t find the right route.
I found something better.
Happy riding
Simple, short and sweet yet interesting. Keep writing. You are an amazing writer! All the best 👍
Thank you – you keep inspiring me
That is a beautiful reflection on how the most meaningful moments often arrive uninvited.
It reminds me that life’s best detours are rarely found on a map.
Thanks Nagaraj – yes detours are rarely found on map – they just happen
Wow! very well said, Sir. We spend so much time worrying about being ‘on track’ or making mistakes, but your story is a beautiful reminder to just breathe and appreciate the Nature and the peace it gives us!🛤️🎄🌴… (specially during exams 😅😭).
Sometimes the roads we didn’t plan for really do lead to the best peace of mind… Thank you sir! for sharing this perspective! 🏕️🏞️
Thanks Chris – that was a nice take.
Beautifully crafted. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Atul Bhai
So lovely and deep lines, it really hit me
Hope it hit right! thanks Shivaram
Sir, I really liked this. It gives a simple but powerful message that sometimes-wrong turns can lead to better experiences. Very relatable and nicely written.
Yes Merrick – Thanks
This is so uplifting. Very well said about being fearless.
Thanks Dear
Sometimes the wrong turn shows you something better than the right path ever could.
Very true Ali
I agree with you sir.
When everyone in my family took science subjects in pre-university, i diverted and took commerce, to everyone’s surprise.
There was a time when everyone suggested that I should take coaching in Bangalore for CA, but your words made me consider KVC for coaching. I’m not saying it’s a wrong turn, but it was different when compared to my other companions. As they say, “It’s not the Destination, it’s the Journey that matters.” I proudly say today, i made the wrong turn in the right way, and I’m so thankful to everyone who I met on that journey.
I will make you proud with the “CA” title as well very soon.
Thanks Sathwik – I am so touched by your reply. God Bless
Waiting to read more felt like I was riding
Thanks Jyothi
Very beautiful thought sir. I’ve too experienced this. We were returning back from Bangalore to mangalore post COVID-1. Will never forget that wrong turn which lead us to passing through villages and literal fields. Surprisingly we beat traffic as we somehow chose the wrong turn. There’s always light.. we just need to find it.
Thanks Gaurav – I am sure that was an awesome experience
💯 ture , sometimes wrong route takes us to right place
Thanks Srujan
Experience has taught me three essential truths:
Be confident, cast out fear, and master the art of acceptance.
No matter which path life takes you down, these three virtues ensure that every direction leads toward success.
Absolutely right!
Beautifully articulated. Wonderfull sir.
Thanks Junaid
Not all detours are mistake some are just discoveries.
Nice comment – Thanks Suzan
Couldn’t agree more…
Some wrong turns don’t take you off track… they take you where you were meant to be.
It’s in those unplanned roads that you find peace, clarity, and moments you’d never experience otherwise.
Beautifully written, felt every bit of that ride.
Yes Manohar, well said by you too. Thanks
Really inspiring experience Sir😊
Thanks Shreya
It is true sir, we always afraid of our life about whether we take right decision or not or will they work we will examine that but we never go with the glow sir
So after reading this I really felt happy and realistic sir
Thank you Manojna
I hope also hope to find right route in the wrong turn like you did….
Thanks Theertha – so sweet of you
Trueee, Some beautiful paths can’t be discovered without getting lost. As Robert Frost said in poem “the road not taken” sometimes we should also choose a path which is less travelled by others to experience a different feelings (although he told about life’s journey, but it also applies to travel too)
Thanks Irfan – you are absolutely right!
Beautiful
Something thatwas much needed
Thanks Kim
